Hi there,
this one is in English, because I’d like to share this information with all the Mystique-fans spread all over the world.
First of all, I’d like to thank to Digital Nature for their amazing work developing beautiful yet powerful FREE WordPress themes: keep the good job!
Second, this post is not intended to be under any kind of “copyright” on my side. I’m not inventing the wheel. I’m just trying to show what I did in order to have the slide content feature enabled on my blog. All the credits are for the wonderful bloggers and developers who have put their time on providing solutions. This is what makes Internet different, and for that reason: THANKS!.
Note: screenshots are taken from my production version, which is in Spanish. Hope you like it!
Having said that, let’s start:
Enable the module
Go to the settings of the theme and then choose the “Modules” tab.
This will make visible the “Featured Content” tab, which stores all the settings (I used) for the Slider.
Set up slider settings
Click on the “Featured Content” tab recently created.
In my case, I wanted to use the slider to show my featured posts. Therefore, it’s important to have some of them. Please note a critical thing said before in the forums: images sized 960×320 must exist. I’ve not tried to change the size of the image, but I guess that a change in the 960×320 will force to a change in the dimensions of the image itself.
The next highlighted option is to skip those featured posts older than the number typed in here “Excluir elementos con más de X días”. At this moment, I didn’t want to exclude anyhing, since I was in “debugger” mode
The options of the right are used to tell Mystique where do you want to show the slider. I just wanted to show it at the very first page. Therefore, I used the “Blog” option and that’s all.
Although not shown in the picture above, in that tab you can also set up the transition that the slider will use to change from an image to other. Change as you want.
Worth to check!
Make sure that the source you specified in the previous step has valid information to be shown. In my case, since I used the “Featured post” option as the source for the slider, I’m going to create some posts classified that way.
It’s important to select the post as featured. Click on the star located at the right of the post. You can achieve that by clicking the star also available when redacting the post, under the “Publish” menu at the right of the edit window:
Featured Image
I found that the image to be shown in the slider is the featured one. THIS is the 960×320 image!!!.
Now the image is selected:
This should be enough. You can also set up the text to be shown by the slider along the image. Everything can be found in the “Feature Content” tab.
Tips
- Make sure that the uploaded image meets the requirements (size) and that you don’t get any error when uploading, resulting in an image 0×0 in size (although still available in your gallery)
- Check twice it’s a featured post (if you selected that criteria as the source for the slider)
I hope you find this interesting, because this feature is a must, but it can be a real nightmare when it doesn’t work as expected.
Sed felices.
